Who We Are
Marlo Arnold – CEO, EMJ Estate Sales
My name is Marlo Arnold, and I am the CEO of EMJ Estate Sales. My passion for repurposing began in childhood, when I would shop at Act II on Harlem Road in the 1980s. Over time, my love for thrifting grew, especially as the estate sale community expanded. As a mother of three, I fondly recall making frequent detours whenever I spotted an estate sale sign, eager to explore the treasures within.
In 2023, my curiosity led me to delve into the business operations side of the industry. Traveling extensively along the East Coast—from Martha’s Vineyard to Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, and Palm Harbor, Florida—I dedicated weekends to learning the intricacies of the estate sale business. After organizing my first sale, I knew I had found my true calling.
During my apprenticeship, I gained hands-on experience in every aspect of the industry, from handling historical artifacts and providing customer support to managing business operations, staging, floor management, front desk services, and pricing. I also deepened my understanding of the significant impact these services have on both clients and buyers. Additionally, I completed instructor-led training at the American Estate Sale Counsel in North Carolina, earning a certification in Estate Sale Management.
Now, in 2025, after years of training and experience—including successfully leading 34 estate sales in 2024 as a Project Lead—I have returned to Western New York with a team of seasoned professionals. Equipped with the latest industry knowledge and expertise, we are committed to assisting clients in maximizing the value of their cherished belongings while ensuring a seamless, enjoyable, and profitable estate sale experience.
